Sab on BiggerWhat?

BiggerPLATE, that’s What?! No, I don’t know what it means either, yet. But I will.

Anyway, it’s a place absolutely crammed with cool mind maps, including mine – he he! You can download the actual original iMindMap file (the mind mapping software I use) and play around with it yourself. Nice!

1_quiet

meditation_175_SHStart your 7 Minute Miracle with a moment’s calm in this world of constant hustle and bustle.

Don’t think of anything! Just relax in a comfortable position with your eyes closed and breathe deeply and gently.

If thoughts pop into your mind, don’t worry about it, but don’t entertain them either. This isn’t reflection time – that comes later.

This is a quiet moment where you ‘charge your batteries’ ready for what the day has in store for you. Treasure this moment and let the peace wash over you 🙂

2_upload

Archer_175_SHNow it’s time to go over your main medium-term goals and current plans for the day and the week.

You can say your mission or life’s purpose to yourself a few times if you have one, and it’s good to have one!

For example, you might say to yourself: ‘I will help one million people to give up smoking through my web site’, or ‘This week I will sell five new cars’, or ‘My weight will go down by another kilo to 73 kgs by next Monday morning through doing exercise every day between 7 and 7.30 and eating well.

Whatever your main objectives are, restate and strengthen them in this powerful minute.

3_i_am_ism

ego_175_SHHere is where you celebrate all that is good… about you!

Remind yourself that you are a dynamic, positive person. Imagine yourself making great progress towards your goals every hour of every day.

Picture how your future will improve as you achieve and surpass one goal after another.

Use present tense, active verbs as this has a more immediate effect on the brain. Make statements like: ‘I am losing weight each and every day’; ‘My relationship with my wife is getting better every week’; ‘I am respected by my colleagues and they like and count on me – which is why I never let them down’.

And so on. If it feels good, think and say it –  and you’ll feel even better!

4_exercise

Jazzercize_175_SHOh yeah, we’re gonna move, people! But only for a minute. It’ll be a good minute though, and your body will love you for it.

It doesn’t matter what you do, but make it lively and energetic. Maybe you want to do a minute of jumping jacks, or jogging on the spot. Or perhaps you will do six different movements for ten seconds each without stopping in between.

The point is to wake your body up physically, after all that mental feel good stuff that came before. We can’t separate our bodies from our minds – they make up the whole of what we are and one cannot work without the other.

So do your bones a favour and shake it out for 60 seconds – who knows, maybe it’ll inspire you to do a whole workout – it often does; as they stay, the first step is always the hardest. Then you just get on with it.

5_time_out

colddrink_175_SHRelax, you deserve it, after a full minute of full-out stretching, jumping or whatever your preferred form of fizical fun was!

Take a moment to simply enjoy the fact that you moved around a bit, catch your breath, and let the energy released channel into your resolutions to get fitter, progress faster and certainly not get fatter any further.

You can sit down or stroll around a little. Chug some water or carry on with some very gentle movements as a kind of warm down.

Above all, know that you are starting your day in the very best way with this turbo-charged work out for your body and your mind. You’ll be ready to go in just two minutes more…

6_express

writer_175_SHAll right, we’re nearly there. It’s time to get expressive.

You can do this either in writing or by speaking aloud, which is much more effective than simply thinking in your head.

Take this minute to write down something – anything – it really doesn’t matter what, but make it positive and forward-thinking. Negative niggling’s a no-no!

Why not write down an idea that came to you as you were exercising just now, or the first line of today’s blog post, or even your favourite inspirational quote or your very own mission statement or life purpose declaration.

Many people will enjoy using this minute to give thanks. This can be simple gratitude for the fact that we are alive and in relatively good health, or specific thanks towards someone you care about, for something they did or for simply being there. This is priceless and will make you feel wonderful – just try it 😀

7_reflect

recipient2_175_SHAnd for your last minute, it’s time to get back to quietness, as you silently reflect on something either by reading or seeing something in your mind’s eye.

Personally, I love reading a few motivating quotes and success stories from any of many books or web sites dedicated to these. You can print these out, but don’t use the internet during your 7 Minutes – you have all day for that and it’s not what this is about.

This is ‘you time’, not pinging e-mail reminder time. Make sure you are as far from technology as possible. Your brain is all the technology you need right now, and your heart all the inspiration necessary.

Finish off on a particularly powerful piece of pithy prose which will keep you going all day long. Rinse and repeat tomorrow morning and every day. You’ll grow to love it and if you get up seven minutes earlier, no-one will even know the secret to your sparkliness!
